I grew up in a house where store bought costumes were rare. Many years costumes were put together last minute with things around the house and face paint.
While my daughter is still too young to pick her own costumes I'm having fun dressing her up in whatever I come up with. Last year she was Rocky Balboa (we already had the grey track suit), and I made a beanie and painted her shirt. Total cost: $0:
This year I went another direction. "He turned around fast, and he saw a small Who! Little Cindy-Lou Who, who was not more than two."

Kind of random for Halloween, but I thought it turned out cute. These may turn into a new set of pajamas if they hold up after tonight.
So adorable and completely original!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is so adorable! I love it!
ReplyDeleteHello! I LOVE this Cindy Lou costume and have been looking everywhere for one. Any chance you'd be interested in making one to sell to me? It would be for my 2 year old daughter for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHi Elizabeth, would you send me an email at ashb2005 AT gmail DOT com? I still have this one and it was just worn once. If your daughter is a similar size I would be happy to sell it to you. The bows have not survived, but I could make two more.
DeleteAdorable costume. I'm crafting a version for the holidays and wondering how you got the antennae to stay put on your toddler. Are they affixed to the bows?
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, I will explain the best I can! My daughters hair was in half pig tails and I twisted the ends of the antennae around her pig tail and under the hair elastic to stay put. The bows were separate, but it would probably work to fix them together. I was lucky and my daughter left them alone all night.
